MLB Tonight is MLB Network’s flagship studio show, airing nightly on MLB Network. It premiered on February 23, 2009, as one of the network’s first original programs. Over its run, the show has won 16 National Sports Emmy Awards, including eight for Outstanding Daily Studio Show. It stands as the most-honored program in MLB Network’s history.
The show delivers live look-ins around ongoing games and tape-delayed highlights from a rotating panel. Analysis comes primarily from former players and studio hosts. In March 2025, MLB Network expanded an early edition into a standalone pregame program, rebranded MLB Tonight: National Pregame Show. That edition airs in the late afternoon, while a separate late-night edition continues after the day’s games conclude.
As of the 2026 season, MLB Tonight‘s daytime edition is anchored by Adnan Virk. He took over hosting duties in 2025, with Harold Reynolds serving as an analyst while also doing field reporting. The late-night edition continues to be led by Greg Amsinger alongside analyst Dan Plesac. Matt Vasgersian has also hosted evening editions of the show.
Bob Costas served as the show’s original lead studio host. He won a Sports Emmy for his work on the program. Lauren Gardner also hosted MLB Tonight for several years before departing MLB Network in July 2026. The show has also featured analysts Al Leiter, Harold Reynolds, Bill Ripken, and Tom Verducci, who have each earned individual Sports Emmy recognition.
