Robert Flores was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where he attended J. Frank Dobie High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in radio and television from the University of Houston in 1992. Flores began his broadcasting career in local television before moving into national sports media. He later became a member of the J. Frank Dobie High School Hall of Fame.

Flores joined ESPN in 2005 as an ESPNews anchor and subsequently became a familiar face on SportsCenter. He also contributed to Baseball Tonight, NBA Fastbreak, Friday Night Fights, and ABC’s college football studio coverage. In 2016, Flores left ESPN and joined MLB Network and NHL Network, expanding his work across two major professional sports.

At MLB Network, Flores became a regular host across the network’s studio programming. He took over as a co-host of MLB Central in 2018, joining Lauren Shehadi and Mark DeRosa, and the trio has remained together through the 2026 season. Flores has also contributed to MLB Tonight, 30 Clubs, 30 Camps, and special event coverage, including MLB Network Showcase broadcasts.
