Jonathan William Coachman was born on August 12, 1973, and grew up playing basketball in McPherson, Kansas. He played college basketball at McPherson College while studying theater. He also worked in local radio, doing play-by-play for football and basketball broadcasts, and served as sports editor of his college newspaper. In 1999, WWE hired him as a backstage interviewer, launching his broadcasting career.
Coachman spent nine years with WWE as an interviewer and commentator before leaving in 2008. At WWE, he served as a broadcaster for Raw and SmackDown and an announcer. He joined ESPN in 2009, anchoring SportsCenter and hosting the radio show Coach & Company for nearly a decade. He later returned to WWE’s Raw broadcast team in 2018.
Coachman now serves as an on-air spokesperson and analyst for the Professional Fighters League. That role expanded in 2025 to include broadcast and executive duties. He also hosts multiple shows through his own BTT Studios podcast network, including Coach and Company. He continues to call golf coverage for PGA Tour Live.
