Jason Jackson was born on May 12, 1972, in Delaware, Ohio, and grew up in Cleveland and Cincinnati. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1994, where he served as student government president. Jackson worked as a news anchor at the university’s WFAL-AM and WBGU-FM stations. He then moved into television as a sports reporter at WSVN-TV in Miami.
Jackson joined the Miami Heat broadcast team in 2004 as television host and courtside reporter. That role now airs on FanDuel Sports Network Sun, where he also hosts Inside the HEAT, an Emmy-winning behind-the-scenes series. Since the 2021–22 season, he has doubled as the Heat’s radio play-by-play announcer on WQAM. Jackson additionally co-hosts a talk show on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
Before joining the Heat, Jackson spent seven years at ESPN, where he anchored NBA 2Night and NBA Matchup. He hosted coverage for the NBA Finals and the All-Star Game from 1997 to 2002, as well as his own radio program, “The Jax Show,” first in Hartford, Connecticut, and then later in Miami on WQAM and WAXY. He also hosted postgame radio coverage for the Miami Dolphins from 2005 to 2007.
