Stuart Christopher John Broad was born on 24 June 1986 in Nottingham, England. He is the son of Chris Broad, a former England opening batsman and current ICC match referee, and Caroline Broad; he also has a younger sister, Rachael.
His cricket career is one of the most decorated in English history. Over a 16-year Test span (2007–2023), he took 604 wickets (second-most for England), with a best innings figure of 8/15 and a best match figure of 11/121. He was a key figure in four Ashes series victories (2009, 2010–11, 2015, 2019) and helped England win the 2010 ICC T20 World Cup.
He has worked for Sky Sports Cricket as a commentator, analyst, and pundit since his retirement in July 2023, appearing on coverage of The Hundred and the Ashes series, alongside other staples like Mark Butcher and Eion Morgan.
Broad is engaged to Mollie King, a singer from the pop group The Saturdays and a BBC Radio 1 presenter. The couple began dating in 2012, split briefly, reconciled in 2018, and became engaged on New Year’s Day 2021. They welcomed their first daughter, Annabella, in November 2022, and their second daughter, Liliana, in January 2025.
