Eoin Joseph Gerard Morgan was born on 10 September 1986 in Dublin, Ireland. He is the son of Jody Morgan and Olivia Morgan; he has five siblings: brothers Evan, Gavin, and Gareth, and sisters Laura and Gwen.

His cricket career is among the most transformative in English history. As England’s white-ball captain from 2015 to 2022, he led the side to their first-ever ICC Cricket World Cup title in 2019, defeating New Zealand in a dramatic Lord’s final.

He was also part of England’s 2010 ICC World T20-winning squad and captained them to the 2016 World T20 final. Morgan holds the record for most ODI runs (7,701) and most T20I runs (2,458) for England, and is the only player to score ODI centuries for two countries (Ireland and England). He is England’s most successful captain with 118 wins across formats, and hit a record 202 sixes in ODIs for England.

He works for Sky Sports Cricket as a commentator, analyst, and pundit since his retirement in 2022. He has appeared on coverage of The Hundred, white-ball series, and special features, alongside other pundits such as Nasser Hussain and Stuart Broad.

Morgan is married to Tara, an Australian marketing and communications manager who previously worked for Burberry in London. The couple met during the 2010 Ashes series in Australia, got engaged in 2017, and married on 3 November 2018 at Babington House in Somerset. They welcomed their first child, a son named Leo Louis Oliver Morgan, in March 2020.
