Her academic journey led her to Loughborough University, where she earned a degree in Sport and Exercise Science, followed by a Master’s in Sports Journalism from St. Mary’s University Twickenham.

Emma first joined Sky Sports in early 2012 as an online journalist, writing stories across an array of sports for skysports.com and the Sky Sports app. Her responsibilities included live blogging, breaking news updates, and producing content for social media. From 2014 to 2019, Emma worked as a sub-editor at Sky Sports News. In this role, she scripted and produced stories, cut interviews, and edited footage for the 24-hour news channel. She was also involved in producing specialist programmes such as Sportswomen. In May 2019, Emma made the leap to on-screen presenting.

As the current lead presenter of Sky Sports darts coverage since 2020, she is most notably known for hosting all the major tournaments for Sky — including the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace — with the 2024 tournament being the most viewed non-football event on record on Sky Sports. Emma is also known in sports entertainment for covering WWE — reporting from New York for the brand’s first ever all-women’s pay-per-view. Emma Paton is in a relationship with Hannibal, with whom she co-owns a flat.
