Laura Robson was born on 21 January 1994 in Melbourne, Australia, the youngest of three children of Andrew Robson, an oil executive with Shell, and Kathy Robson, a former professional basketball player and sports coach. The family moved to Singapore when Laura was 18 months old, then to the United Kingdom when she was six.

She debuted on the junior tennis circuit in 2007 and won the Wimbledon Junior Girls’ Championship in 2008 at just 14. She turned professional shortly after, reaching a career-high singles ranking of World No. 27 in 2013 and winning an Olympic silver medal in mixed doubles with Andy Murray at London 2012.

Wrist and hip injuries forced a prolonged battle with fitness, and she retired from professional tennis in May 2022. Since retiring, Robson has built a broadcasting career as a tennis analyst for Sky Sports and the BBC’s Grand Slam coverage, working alongside Tim Henman and Karthi Gnanasegaram, and has also worked for Eurosport and TNT Sports.

She has additionally taken on tournament direction, running the Nottingham Open in 2023 and 2024 before being appointed director of a new women’s event at Queen’s Club from 2025.
