Tim Henman was born on 6 September 1974 in Oxford, England, to Anthony Henman, a solicitor, and Jane Henman, a dress designer and former junior Wimbledon competitor. Tennis ran deep in the family — his grandfather and grandmother both competed at Wimbledon, as did his great-grandmother.

He turned professional in 1993 and became Britain’s leading men’s player through the late 1990s and 2000s, reaching a career-high ranking of World No. 4, winning 15 ATP titles, and reaching six Grand Slam semi-finals, four of them at Wimbledon. He retired from the tour in 2007.

Since retirement, Henman has built a prominent broadcasting career, working as a tennis analyst for the BBC’s Wimbledon coverage and, since 2024, for Sky Sports’ year-round ATP and WTA Tour coverage alongside Gigi Salmon and Laura Robson. He also sits on the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s board and was announced as Team Europe’s vice-captain for the 2025 Laver Cup.

Henman married television director Lucy Heald in December 1999, and the couple have three daughters: Rosie (born 2002), Olivia (born 2004), and Grace (born 2007). The family lived for many years at a manor house in Aston Tirrold, Oxfordshire, before relocating in 2025, and also has a home in Barnes, southwest London.
