ESPN’s College GameDay franchise made its first appearance at a women’s college basketball game in 2010. For over a decade, women’s games received only sporadic GameDay visits rather than a dedicated edition of their own. However, that changed in 2023, when ESPN formally established a standalone women’s college basketball edition of College GameDay, complete with its own consistent hosting team and regular on-campus road shows each season.
The one-hour show airs live from a featured campus on Sundays or Thursdays in select weeks, from mid-January through the postseason. Each edition previews the day’s top women’s college basketball matchup, with in-depth analysis and storytelling from the broadcast desk. The show travels to four or five campuses per regular season, choosing locations tied to the most compelling matchups of the week. It also covers the NCAA Women’s Selection Special and the Women’s NCAA Tournament throughout the postseason.
Elle Duncan hosted the show from its 2023 debut through the 2024-25 season. However, she departed ESPN in December 2025 to join Netflix as its first sports anchor. Consequently, Christine Williamson was promoted to lead host for the 2025-26 season. In addition to Williamson, Women’s College GameDay also features analysts Andraya Carter and Chiney Ogwumike.
The show is part of ESPN’s broader commitment to women’s college basketball, which in 2025-26 delivered its most-watched regular season on ESPN networks since 2008-09. The February 2026 edition from Baton Rouge drew 1.2 million viewers — a regular-season record for the program. The show airs on ESPN and simulcasts on ESPN+ and Disney+.
