Wild Child

Wild Child premiered in 2021 on NBC as part of the network’s educational and informational (E/I) Saturday morning lineup. Produced to meet federal E/I requirements, the series focuses on young animals and their development in the wild. It combines documentary-style footage with accessible narration designed for young children and family audiences.

Airing Saturday mornings, Wild Child features stories about animal offspring across a wide range of species and ecosystems. Each episode highlights survival skills, parental care, and the challenges young animals face in their early lives. The program incorporates wildlife cinematography from habitats around the world, including forests, oceans, deserts, and grasslands.

The format emphasizes education through engaging storytelling, using expert insights and clear explanations to make animal science approachable for younger viewers. Since its debut, the series has maintained a consistent structure, presenting self-contained episodes focused on specific species or themes, with a light, informative tone.

Wild Child is hosted by Sheinelle Jones, who guides viewers through each episode’s featured stories. Jones, known for her work on NBC’s Today, brings a warm, accessible style to the series. She has hosted the program since its launch.
