Savannah Clark Guthrie was born on December 27, 1971, in Melbourne, Australia, and later moved with her family to the United States. She attended the University of Arizona, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. She later graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, earning her Juris Doctor degree and becoming a member of the Arizona Bar.
Guthrie began her career in local television news, working as a reporter and anchor in Missouri and Arizona. After becoming a lawyer, she practiced law for several years, specializing in white-collar criminal defense. She then returned to journalism, joining CourtTV as a national trial correspondent, where her legal background helped her cover major court cases and legal stories.
In 2007, she joined NBC News as a legal analyst and correspondent, later becoming a White House correspondent during the Obama administration. In 2012, she was named co-anchor of Today, replacing Ann Curry. She continues to serve in that role, interviewing world leaders, covering breaking news, and leading special coverage for NBC News. Guthrie has also moderated presidential town halls and political debates, including major election events. Her combination of legal expertise and journalism experience has made her one of NBC’s most prominent news anchors.
On a personal level, Guthrie is married to Michael Feldman, a public relations consultant and former political aide. The couple resides in New York with their two children, Vale and Charley. Guthrie has been vocal about her journey to motherhood, including conceiving her daughter at age 42 and her experience with IVF.
