Broderick Stephen Harvey was born on January 17, 1957, in Welch, West Virginia, to Eloise, a Sunday school teacher, and Jesse Harvey, a coal miner. Raised in Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated from Glenville High School and later attended Kent State University and West Virginia University without completing a degree.
Before finding success in entertainment, Harvey held several jobs, including insurance salesman, postal carrier, and autoworker. He began performing stand-up comedy in 1985, gradually building recognition through appearances on It’s Showtime at the Apollo and Def Comedy Jam. His mainstream breakthrough came in the 1990s with the sitcom The Steve Harvey Show.
Harvey expanded into hosting across radio and television. He launched The Steve Harvey Morning Show in 2000 and has hosted Family Feud since 2010, along with Celebrity Family Feud. His hosting credits also include Little Big Shots, Steve Harvey’s Funderdome, and Judge Steve Harvey, and he began hosting Miss Universe in 2015.
Harvey has been married three times and is currently married to Marjorie Bridges. Together, they share a blended family of seven children. He is also active in philanthropy through the Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation.
