The $100,000 Pyramid is a long-running American game show franchise that originally premiered in 1973 as The $10,000 Pyramid. Hosted by the late Dick Clark, the show quickly became a staple of American daytime television due to its blend of rapid-fire trivia and celebrity-contestant camaraderie.
The series has aired in several versions over the decades and across various networks and syndication runs, cementing its place as one of the most successful game show formats in history. The prize money for the game show has also increased over time, from $10,000 to $20,000, $25,000, and $100,000. The current version of the game show returned to primetime on ABC in 2016.
The gameplay features two teams, each consisting of a contestant and a celebrity guest. In the main game, teams choose from six categories displayed on a game board, where one player gives clues and the other guesses words or phrases related to the category within 30 seconds. The team with the highest score at the end of the round advances to the “Winner’s Circle,” where they compete for a chance to win $100,000.
Michael Strahan has served as the host and executive producer of The $100,000 Pyramid since its 2016 debut. Strahan’s charismatic and encouraging energy has been widely credited with modernizing the classic format for a new generation while maintaining the integrity of the original gameplay. Over the decades, the game show has seen a legendary roster of past hosts, most notably Dick Clark, who hosted for nearly 15 years, as well as Bill Cullen, John Davidson, and Donny Osmond.
