Poker Night in America (often abbreviated PNIA) is a televised poker series that debuted in 2014. It is produced by Todd Anderson’s Rush Street Productions and airs on CBS Sports Network. The series was created to showcase poker in a relaxed, personality-driven cash game format rather than as a traditional tournament broadcast.
Each episode features players competing in cash games or sit-and-go matches. The show mixes competitive poker action with banter and personality, creating moments that appeal to both serious poker fans and casual viewers. It has become known for its featured scenes, such as memorable slow-rolls and player interactions.
Over the years, Poker Night in America has filmed at numerous casino venues across the United States. In 2023, the show established a Las Vegas “poker residency” known as Studio 52, a custom-built, television-ready set located inside a private mansion. It has also launched various spin-offs, including the real-time Poker Night LIVE and Hellmuth’s Home Game.
Chris Hanson is a long-running host of the show, often joined by personalities such as Joe Stapleton in the commentary. The show has also featured a rotating roster of poker players, with notable personalities such as Phil Hellmuth, Danielle Andersen, Maria Ho, and Alec Torelli. PNIA’s mix of personalities and poker action has helped distinguish it from more traditional televised poker formats that focus solely on tournament brackets.
