Baking Championship: Next Gen is a baking competition show that premiered on Food Network in January 2026. It is the latest addition to Food Network’s Baking Championship franchise, which also includes Spring Baking Championship, Halloween Baking Championship, Holiday Baking Championship, and Kids Baking Championship.
The season opens with a supersized two-hour qualifying episode in which all 12 sibling teams step into a pastry school-style kitchen and immediately face elimination. The contestants are then put through two skills challenges — baking a dozen cupcakes and making a pie from scratch — to determine which ten teams advance to the main competition. From there, teams are eliminated one by one across eight subsequent episodes until a winner is crowned.
Each episode centres on a themed baking challenge, such as “breakfast dessert imposters,” in which teams must create an over-the-top dessert version of a breakfast spread; “cream puff friendship bracelets”; and “animated cakes.”
A recurring feature of the competition is mid-challenge twist ingredients — surprise additions introduced during the baking challenges that contestants must incorporate into their dishes. Challenges are also designed to test the sibling dynamic directly, with some episodes requiring older and younger siblings to work on separate components of a single dessert without touching each other’s work.
Duff Goldman and Kardea Brown serve as both hosts and judges of the show. Goldman is a veteran of the Baking Championship franchise, having judged Kids Baking Championship alongside Brown for multiple seasons, as well as serving as a judge on Halloween Baking Championship and The Ultimate Baking Championship. Brown is best known as the host and chef behind Food Network’s Delicious Miss Brown, which has aired since 2018.
