Access Hollywood

Access Hollywood premiered on September 9, 1996, as a nationally syndicated entertainment newsmagazine produced by NBCUniversal Television Distribution. The program was created to deliver daily coverage of Hollywood, television, music, and celebrity culture. For thirty years, it has been broadcast primarily on NBC-owned stations, establishing itself as a flagship brand in daily syndication.

Airing weekday afternoons and evenings, depending on market, Access Hollywood covers breaking entertainment headlines, exclusive interviews, film and television premieres, and major award shows. The program regularly features red carpet coverage and behind-the-scenes reporting from major industry events. Its format blends studio-based anchor segments with correspondent packages filed from Los Angeles, New York, and other entertainment hubs.

The “Access” brand has also grown through successful spin-offs, most notably Access Daily with Mario & Kit, which offers a more conversational, lifestyle-focused content. While the flagship evening program remains centered on breaking headlines, the brand’s overall ecosystem now covers fashion, beauty, and human-interest stories. This strategy has helped the franchise maintain strong ratings and relevance.

Access Hollywood is hosted by a veteran team of anchors, including Mario Lopez, Kit Hoover, Scott Evans, and Sibley Scoles, with Zuri Hall serving as a primary correspondent and weekend anchor. The show has also featured several iconic television personalities who helped shape the celebrity news format. Notable past anchors and correspondents include Nancy O’Dell, Billy Bush, Pat O’Brien, Shaun Robinson, Natalie Morales, Liz Hernandez, and Tony Potts.
