Rhett Lewis was born on March 23, 1983, in Metairie, Louisiana, the son of longtime NFL athletic trainer Dean Kleinschmidt. He attended St. Martin’s Episcopal School before joining Indiana University, where he played football as a wide receiver. After graduating, he interned at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, then began his professional broadcasting career as a sports director at KLBK in Lubbock, Texas.
Lewis went on to work as a sports reporter at WVUE in New Orleans before spending five years as an anchor and reporter at WHDH in Boston, where he covered all four major professional sports championships. He joined NFL Network in 2014, initially hosting the weekday morning show NFL AM. He has since become a regular presence across the network’s programming, including NFL Total Access and Path to the Draft.
Lewis currently hosts NFL Network’s Path to the Draft and NFL Now, and co-hosts the Move the Sticks podcast alongside Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks. In May 2022, he was named the new radio analyst for Indiana University football, working alongside play-by-play announcer Don Fischer. He also makes regular appearances on SiriusXM Big Ten Radio.
