Patrick Claybon was born on November 25, 1983, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Dr. Ernest and Dr. Patience Claybon. Growing up in Birmingham, he was a standout athlete at Mountain Brook High School, where he won the Alabama state high school decathlon championship twice. He then attended Troy University, where he graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in broadcast journalism.
Claybon launched his broadcasting career in 2007 as a news reporter at WTVY News 4 in Dothan, Alabama. Over time, he transitioned into sports journalism, rising to sports director at WTVY before moving to the same role at WIAT-TV (CBS42) in Birmingham. During those years, he traveled coast to coast each season to cover five consecutive BCS National Championship games, building a reputation as a sharp and reliable sports reporter.
In October 2014, Claybon joined NFL Network as a news update anchor, hosting the network’s first-ever all-football live news program. Today, he hosts NFL Fantasy Live, NFL GameDay Live, and NFL GameDay View, covering breaking news and league analysis across multiple platforms. He lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife, Lauren and their two children.
