Rob & Romesh Vs is a Sky Original comedy-entertainment series that follows comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan as they throw themselves into unfamiliar worlds and challenges. What began with a focus on sport has developed into a wide-ranging format covering entertainment, music, fashion, food, performing arts, wildlife and other unusual experiences. The duo’s genuine friendship and contrasting personalities provide much of the show’s humour.
Each episode sees Rob and Romesh take on a new skill, activity or professional environment, usually with the help of experts who know their field inside out. Rather than simply observing from the sidelines, the pair are expected to participate and demonstrate what they have learned, often with hilarious consequences. Their willingness to commit fully to each challenge is central to the show’s appeal.
The challenges cover an impressively broad range of subjects. Previous adventures have seen the comedians train with Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt, explore NBA basketball, learn ballet, try their hands at art and golf, and venture into the worlds of drag and professional cricket. The later series have expanded the scale of the adventures, taking the pair to destinations around the world. In the eighth series, they travelled to Mumbai to experience Bollywood, visited New York to explore hip-hop culture, ventured into the Sumatran jungle to pursue wildlife photography and performed Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare’s Globe. They also took on winter sports with Team GB, trying activities including bobsleigh, biathlon, skiing and curling.
The series is hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, two award-winning British comedians and long-time friends.
