Never Mind the Buzzcocks

Musicians, comedians and celebrities battle through outrageous music quizzes, hilarious stories and unforgettable performances.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks is a comedy music panel show on Sky One that combines pop culture, music trivia and irreverent humour. Originally broadcast on BBC Two from 1996, the programme was revived by Sky in 2021 with a new cast while retaining the chaotic spirit and playful irreverence that made the original a favourite.

Each episode features two teams competing in a series of music-themed rounds designed to test their knowledge, memory and ability to recognise songs and artists. The teams are made up of regular captains and guest panellists, with musicians, comedians and television personalities regularly joining the competition.

The format typically features four rounds, including the popular Identity Parade, Connections, Next Lines and Intros. The games challenge contestants to identify musicians, connect seemingly unrelated musical clues, complete song lyrics and recognise songs from their opening notes.

Music celebrities are an important part of the programme, with performers and artists appearing alongside comedians and entertainment personalities. Guests have included figures from different generations and genres, allowing the show to explore everything from classic pop and rock to contemporary music while encouraging guests to share entertaining stories from their careers.

Greg Davies is the host of the show, bringing his imposing presence and dry, playful comedic style to the proceedings. The regular team captains have included Noel Fielding and Daisy May Cooper, with Sophie Willan taking over from Cooper for some episodes and serving as a captain in the fourth series. Jamali Maddix has also been a regular panellist, contributing to the show’s lively team dynamic.
