Deal or No Deal: Island

Contestants compete in island challenges to retrieve briefcases, then face the Banker in a game of Deal or No Deal to avoid elimination.

Deal or No Deal Island premiered on NBC in 2024 as a high-octane reimagining of the long-running Deal or No Deal franchise. Developed to bridge the gap between studio game shows and survival reality competitions, the series featured contestants living on a private island owned by the Banker. Each episode consisted of an “excursion” challenge to secure valuable briefcases, followed by a high-pressure session in the Banker’s Temple.

During its two-season run, the program became known for awarding some of the largest prizes in television history. In the Season 2 finale, which aired in March 2025, winner David Genat secured a record-breaking $5.8 million after a strategic battle against the Banker. This win set a new record for the largest single cash prize ever awarded on an American network television show.

The series was hosted by actor Joe Manganiello, who served as the primary guide for the contestants and the intermediary for the Banker’s offers. In a departure from the original series, the identity of the Banker was a central season-long mystery. Season 1 concluded with the reveal that executive producer and original host Howie Mandel was the Banker. At the same time, Season 2 featured a surprise reveal of former briefcase model Chrissy Teigen in the role.

The program also drew significant attention by casting legendary reality television figures alongside everyday players. Notable participants included Survivor icons “Boston Rob” Mariano, Parvati Shallow, and Dr. Will Kirby, whose strategic maneuvers often dictated the pace of the game.
