Fear Factor: House of Fear is a reimagined reality competition series that premiered on Fox in 2026. It is the third American incarnation of Fear Factor, following the NBC original hosted by Joe Rogan and the 2017–2018 MTV revival hosted by Ludacris.
The FOX iteration marks a significant departure from previous Fear Factor editions. Rather than self-contained episodes with new contestants each week, House of Fear uses a serialized, season-long structure. Fourteen contestants are dropped in a remote location and move into an isolated house known as the Fear House.
The contestants remain throughout the competition, blending the extreme stunt format of the original show with the social strategy dynamics of a house-based reality competition. Each episode, contestants face challenges designed around their specific fears — from claustrophobia and heights to phobias involving insects, snakes, and electroshock.
Contestants also form alliances, navigate house politics, and vote each other out between challenges, adding a layer of strategy absent from earlier versions of the show. The ultimate goal is to be the last person standing to win a $200,000 grand prize.
Fear Factor: House of Fear is hosted by Johnny Knoxville, best known as the co-creator and star of MTV’s Jackass franchise. He brings his experience with extreme stunts and physical comedy to the series, introducing competitors to harrowing feats that test strength, endurance, fear tolerance, and mental toughness.
