Rebecca Haarlow grew up in a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, where she excelled in track and field at Hinsdale Central High School. She then attended Princeton University, where she competed in track and field and, later, earned a Bachelor of Arts in American History. Her Ivy League athletic and academic background laid the groundwork for a competitive broadcast career.
Haarlow’s media career began in 2003 with Silicon Valley Sports and Entertainment as a public relations coordinator. She transitioned to on-air reporting as a sideline reporter for the Portland Trail Blazers in 2007, before joining Fox Sports Network and then NFL Network in 2011 as a news anchor. In 2013, she added a part-time role at NBC 5 in Chicago, further broadening her multi-platform presence.
Her most prominent role came in September 2015, when she joined MSG Network as the New York Knicks’ sideline reporter. She also covered games for the NBA on TNT and NBA TV, becoming a prominent voice in professional basketball broadcasting. In 2024, she left MSG Network to focus full-time on her consulting firm, Rebecca Haarlow Communications.
