Micah Richards was born on June 24, 1988, in Birmingham, England, and grew up in Leeds. He joined Manchester City’s academy at 14 and made his senior debut in 2005. Richards spent most of his playing career with City, winning the Premier League and FA Cup before later playing for Fiorentina and Aston Villa.

Richards made his England debut in 2006 at 18, becoming the country’s youngest-ever defender to start a senior international match. He earned 13 England caps and represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics. Persistent knee problems eventually limited his playing career, and he announced his retirement in July 2019 at age 31.

After retiring, Richards established himself as a football analyst, becoming a permanent Sky Sports pundit in 2020 and a regular BBC Sport contributor. He also joined CBS Sports’ UEFA Champions League coverage, where he works as an analyst alongside Kate Scott, Thierry Henry, and Jamie Carragher.
