SportsCenter:AM is a morning sports news and highlights program that airs on ESPN and ESPN2. It launched on February 8, 2016, as a dedicated morning edition of the broader SportsCenter brand. SportsCenter itself has been ESPN’s flagship show since September 7, 1979, making SportsCenter AM an extension of one of the longest-running sports programs in American television history.
The format is fast-moving and built around highlights. Each segment covers the top moments from overnight games across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college football, and college basketball. The show also features breaking news, analysis, and previews for that day’s upcoming games. Additionally, it draws on the wider ESPN reporting team, including top analysts and insiders, to provide context beyond just scores and plays.
SportsCenter:AM underwent a notable programming change in April 2018. With the launch of ESPN’s morning debate show Get Up!, the AM block shifted from ESPN to ESPN2 for its later hours. That arrangement has continued, with only the first hour of the weekday show airing on the flagship ESPN channel. Beyond the TV broadcast, the show expanded into streaming in March 2025, when ESPN launched SC+ on Disney+.
The current weekday anchor team is Gary Striewski and Randy Scott, who have co-anchored the morning block together and also lead the streaming SC+ edition. On weekends, Hannah Storm and Jay Harris anchor the morning block. Storm, one of ESPN’s most experienced anchors, has been with the network since 2008. Harris joined ESPN in 2001 and is a longtime weekend morning presence.
