Hannah Storm

Profile Overview

Hannah Storm was born in Oak Park, Illinois, into a sports family — her father, Mike Storen, was an executive in professional basketball. She grew up with deep exposure to the sports world and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1983. Her early career included stints as a disc jockey and radio sportscaster in Texas before she joined CNN in 1989, becoming the first female host of CNN Sports Tonight.

Her national profile grew significantly at NBC, where she became the first woman in American television history to solo-host a broadcast network’s sports package. She later co-hosted The Early Show on CBS, covering presidential elections, Hurricane Katrina, and multiple Super Bowls. In 2018, she and Andrea Kremer became the first all-female team to provide play-by-play commentary on NFL games for Amazon Prime Video.

Storm has been an anchor at ESPN since 2008. In addition to her daily SportsCenter duties, she has covered the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, ESPYs, and multiple Olympic Games for the network. She also founded Brainstormin’ Productions in 2008, through which she has produced award-winning sports documentaries, including Unmatched. In addition, she founded the Hannah Storm Foundation the same year to support children born with vascular birthmarks.
