Scrabble is an American word-based game show airing on The CW, based on Hasbro’s classic crossword tile game. The concept first reached television on NBC in 1984, running until 1990 and briefly returning in 1993. The CW revived the format on October 3, 2024, marking Scrabble’s third television adaptation.
The program brings word enthusiasts together for a series of challenges that test vocabulary, strategy, and quick thinking. Contestants earn points through the individual games and use their results to strategically add words to a large Scrabble board at the center of the set. Successful players advance toward a final opportunity to win $10,000.
The CW revival differs substantially from the earlier Scrabble game show that aired on NBC. The original series, hosted by Chuck Woolery, ran from 1984 to 1990 and returned for another run in 1993. That version used crossword-style puzzles and cash prizes, while the 2024 revival was developed as a more direct adaptation of the board game.
Raven-Symoné hosted the first season of Scrabble, which began in 2024. She remained involved as an executive producer after leaving the hosting position, while Craig Ferguson took over as host for the second season, which premiered in January 2026. The CW renewed the series for a third season in August 2026.
