Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test is a military-style reality competition series that premiered on Fox in 2023. It is based on the British series SAS: Who Dares Wins and places celebrities in a training environment modeled after real-world special forces selection courses. Unlike traditional elimination-based competitions, the show focuses on endurance and mental resilience, with participants leaving the course voluntarily or being removed if they fail to meet the required standards.
The series brings together a group of celebrity recruits from sports, entertainment, and other public fields. Participants are transported to remote training locations where they undergo a series of physically demanding and psychologically intense exercises. These tasks simulate elements of special forces training, including survival drills, endurance tests, navigation exercises, and stress-based challenges.
A team of former special forces operators, known as the Directing Staff, leads the program. The team includes former U.S. Army Special Forces soldier Rudy Reyes, former British SAS operator Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham, former U.S. Navy SEAL Remi Adeleke, and former British Royal Marine Commando Jason Fox. They oversee the training and evaluate the recruits’ performance throughout the course.
Throughout the season, recruits face progressively more difficult challenges intended to test teamwork, determination, and resilience under pressure. Notable celebrity contestants who have “passed” the selection include Bachelorette Hannah Brown, Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson East, and media personality Brody Jenner.
