Zubin Mehenti was born on August 5, 1978, in East Windsor, New Jersey, to parents who had emigrated from India. He attended Rutgers University, where he earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism and Political Science. His first job out of college was as a producer for former CBS News correspondent Melinda Murphy at WPIX-TV in New York. 

Mehenti worked as a weekend sportscaster at WMGM-TV in Wildwood, New Jersey. He then served as a weekend sports anchor at WOI-TV in West Des Moines, Iowa. After that, he spent six years as a sports anchor and reporter at KDVR-TV and KWGN-TV in Denver, Colorado. In 2011, ESPN hired him as a studio anchor, serving across multiple SportsCenter editions, including on-site shows from college football games and major events.

In 2020, Mehenti was selected to co-host a revamped ESPN Radio morning show — eventually titled Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin. He stepped away from the program in April 2021 to focus on his health, and Max Kellerman later replaced him on the show. He has since continued anchoring studio programs and various SportsCenter editions at ESPN, remaining one of the network’s versatile on-air talents.
