Mike Hill was born in The Bronx, New York, and spent much of his childhood in Bessemer, Alabama. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserve before beginning his broadcasting career in 1995 as a sports director at WHAG-TV in Hagerstown, Maryland. He then worked at various local stations in California and Nashville before joining Fox Sports Net. 

After three years at FSN, he joined KXAS-TV in Dallas as a sports reporter from 2002 to 2004. He then moved to ESPN, where he spent nine years hosting SportsCenter, NFL Live, Baseball Tonight, and NBA Tonight. Hil also co-hosted Hill & Schlereth on ESPN Radio with Mark Schlereth. 

Mike Hill left ESPN to join Fox Sports in  2013 as part of FS1’s launch. Since then, he has filled a wide variety of hosting roles across college football, college basketball, and Major League Baseball on Fox. He has also hosted America’s Pregame, provided NFL game break coverage, and anchored Inside the Big East. In 2025, Fox Sports confirmed him as a lead anchor for college football studio coverage from Los Angeles, working alongside Bruce Feldman and Chris Petersen.
