NFL Live is a National Football League studio show that has been on the air since 1998. It began airing under the name NFL 2Night on ESPN2 and was one of the first daily television programs dedicated exclusively to the NFL. The show later moved to ESPN, where it was rebranded as NFL Live in 2002, and it has run continuously ever since. In 2025, its current cast earned the Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Studio Show — Daily, a significant milestone for the program.
The show airs Monday through Friday and runs throughout the entire calendar year — including the off-season. Each episode focuses on breaking news, injury updates, roster moves, game previews, and in-depth analysis. Rather than focusing exclusively on game highlights, NFL Live is primarily a discussion and debate program. Its year-round format keeps NFL fans engaged long after the Super Bowl.
Over the years, the show has evolved significantly. In its early years under Trey Wingo, it focused on straightforward news delivery. Under later casts, it shifted toward more personality-driven debate and storytelling. Analysts such as Dan Orlovsky became widely popular for breaking down game film in real time, bringing a new dimension to studio football coverage.
Laura Rutledge has served as the show’s host since 2020. She joined ESPN in 2014, initially working on SEC Nation. She is supported by a panel of analysts, including Dan Orlovsky, Marcus Spears, Ryan Clark, and Mina Kimes — all former athletes or seasoned football journalists. Reporter Adam Schefter and analyst Peter Schrager also contribute regularly with breaking news and NFL Draft coverage.
