Kevin Burkhardt was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey, and developed a passion for sports broadcasting at an early age. He attended Bloomfield High School, graduating in 1992, before enrolling at William Paterson University. After college, he struggled to break into broadcasting and worked at a local car dealership while continuing to pursue his dream. 

Burkhardt’s persistence paid off when he landed part-time sports update shifts at WCBS-AM in New York City. Then, in 2007, he joined SportsNet New York as the New York Mets’ field reporter — a role he held until 2014. He also called NFL games nationally for Compass Media, including as the Dallas Cowboys’ national radio play-by-play voice. In 2013, he joined FOX Sports as an NFL play-by-play announcer before becoming the network’s lead NFL voice in 2022.

Currently, Burkhardt serves as the play-by-play announcer for the NFL on Fox, alongside Tom Brady, who serves as a color analyst. He is also the lead studio host for FOX’s Major League Baseball coverage, including the postseason and All-Star Game. His polished style and versatility have made him one of sports television’s premier broadcasters.
