Clint Dempsey was born on March 9, 1983, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He played college soccer at Furman University before entering MLS with the New England Revolution in 2004. Dempsey later built a successful European career with Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur before returning to MLS with Seattle Sounders FC. He retired from professional soccer in August 2018.
After retiring, Dempsey transitioned into media, joining CBS Sports as a soccer analyst. He subsequently became part of the network’s soccer programming, including Kickin’ It, which premiered in 2023. The show brought Dempsey together with Kate Scott, Charlie Davies, and Maurice Edu for interviews with prominent figures from the soccer world.
Dempsey also developed a relationship with FOX Sports, making his analyst debut for the network during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He returned for the 2024 Copa América and was part of FOX Sports’ studio team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His broadcasting work draws on a 13-year U.S. national-team career, including three World Cup appearances and 57 international goals.
