Alex Hammond

Profile Overview

Alex Hammond was born on 13th May 1974 in Sheffield. She began her working life as an assistant in the pedigree department of a top UK thoroughbred stud, before working as a secretary and work rider for racehorse trainers Jack and Lynda Ramsden in Yorkshire.

Hammond started in broadcasting in 1998 with The Racing Channel, moving to Sky Sports in 2003, where she specialized in racing and became a fixture on the “Good Morning Sports Fans” show.

She has been the lead presenter on Sky Sports Racing since the channel’s launch on 1 January 2019, following over 15 years presenting on Sky Sports News. She has also worked as a racing presenter on Talksport radio and written columns for The Daily Mail, and has been a columnist for Sporting Life.

Outside of broadcasting, she has had over 50 rides as an amateur jockey, including a placing in Ascot’s Diamond Race, and intends to ride a winner one day; she also supports Sheffield United as a football fan.
