Hayley Moore was born in 1988 and grew up in Brighton. She is part of the famous Moore racing dynasty — her grandfather Charlie Moore was a trainer there, her father Gary Moore followed in his footsteps as one of the country’s best dual-purpose trainers, and all three of her brothers, Ryan, Jamie, and Josh, became jockeys.

She wanted to be a jockey like her mother, who had ridden as an amateur, and went on to have an amateur riding career of her own, winning the Longines Handicap Stakes for lady amateurs at Ascot. At 16, she sat her English GCSE exam in the morning and rode her first winner at Brighton racecourse that same afternoon.

At 14 she did work experience in television production with Satellite Information Services, the racing channel at the time, which led to some early presenting opportunities. This include acquiring an on-course presenting role for At The Races, which became Sky Sports Racing, alongside Alex Hammond, Matt Chapman, and entire reporting crew. She rose to national attention in July 2018 when, presenting at Chepstow, she dramatically caught and held onto a loose horse, Give Em A Clump, after it had unseated its jockey — footage that went viral.

She is engaged to Flat jockey Tom Queally, who rode the unbeaten champion Frankel throughout his career. She describes herself as “a very lucky mummy of two” — their daughter Alice was born in December 2022, with a second child arriving since. The family also has a springer spaniel named George, and Hayley still lives near her family’s Gisswood Racing Stables base near Horsham, where she continues to ride out.
