LaChina Robinson is a native of Alexandria, Virginia, where she grew up as one of sixteen children in a blended family. She started playing basketball at 14, when her 6’4″ frame attracted coaches’ attention in high school. She attended Wake Forest University on a scholarship, where she became a four-year starter for the Demon Deacons. Robinson also earned a spot on the 1999 ACC All-Freshman Team and received All-ACC academic recognition. 

After graduating, she spent seven years with the Georgia Tech women’s basketball program. She then began serving as the color analyst for the WNBA’s newly formed Atlanta Dream in 2008, before joining ESPN in 2009 as a college basketball analyst and reporter. Over the following 12 years, she covered the NCAA Tournament, the Women’s Final Four, the WNBA Playoffs and Finals, and the WNBA Draft. 

In 2021, Robinson stepped back from college basketball to focus solely on the WNBA. She has since covered three Olympic Games with NBCUniversal in addition to serving as studio host and analyst for WNBA Showtime. Additionally, in 2026, Amazon Prime Video named her a game analyst for its expanded WNBA coverage.
