Aarón Sánchez was born on February 12, 1976, in El Paso, Texas, and was raised in a family deeply rooted in Mexican cuisine. His mother, renowned chef Zarela Martínez, introduced him to professional cooking at an early age. Sánchez later studied culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University before gaining experience in leading restaurants across New York City. 

Sánchez built a successful television career through Food Network and Cooking Channel. He hosted Taco Trip, Heat Seekers, Chefs vs. City, and several Spanish-language series, including 3 Minutos con Aarón, MOTOCHEFS, and El Toque de Aarón. He also became a familiar face as a judge on Chopped, Chopped Junior, MasterChef, and MasterChef Junior. His television work earned a James Beard Award for Television Studio Program in 2014.

In 2026, Sánchez became the co-host of Food Network’s new TV show, Restaurant Impossible: Last Call, alongside restaurateur Jenn Agg. He has also continued with his role as a judge on Chopped. Beyond TV, he owns Johnny Sánchez in New Orleans, serves as a partner in several restaurant ventures, and hosts and executive produces Talking Sabor for Hulu.
