Jason Carl Fox was born on August 31, 1976, in Plymouth, Devon, England. He joined the Royal Marines Commandos at just 16 years and, later, passed the selection process for the Special Boat Service (SBS). Fox rose to the rank of Sergeant in the SBS, leading and participating in high-risk operations across the globe. He also served as a Special Forces swimmer and diver, explosives expert, dog handler, and jungle survival expert.
Fox was medically discharged from the military in 2012, having been diagnosed with PTSD. Rather than remain silent about his struggles, he became a vocal advocate for veteran mental health. He also co-founded Rock2Recovery, a music-based mental health programme for service personnel, veterans, and their families.
In 2015, he joined Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins as a Directing Staff instructor — eventually becoming its longest-serving DS. He also serves as a Directing Staff instructor on Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, in addition to hosting the Jason Fox Wild Tales podcast. Besides his TV career, he is a published author whose work includes Battle Scars, an autobiography detailing his military career and mental health journey.
