Premier Lacrosse League on NBC was NBC Sports’ coverage of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), a men’s professional outdoor lacrosse league co-founded by Paul and Mike Rabil. The broadcasts debuted in 2019, the league’s inaugural season, following an exclusive media rights agreement between the PLL and NBC Sports Group. Games aired across NBC, NBCSN, NBC Sports Gold, and later Peacock, giving the new league extensive national exposure. The partnership continued through the 2021 season before the league’s media rights moved to ESPN beginning in 2022.
NBC’s coverage featured regular-season games, the All-Star Game, playoff matchups, and the league championship. Broadcasts combined live game action with pregame, halftime, and postgame analysis, player interviews, and features on the league’s athletes and rules. The network also introduced viewers to the PLL’s touring model, in which all teams competed in a different host city each weekend.
The show became known for using production techniques rarely seen in lacrosse at the time. NBC incorporated SkyCam views, on-field microphones, player interviews during games, and shot-speed tracking to give fans a closer look at the action. These innovations helped make the telecasts more accessible to both longtime lacrosse followers and newcomers.
Paul Burmeister served as the lead studio host throughout NBC’s coverage. Brendan Burke handled play-by-play duties, while former professional player Ryan Boyle worked as the lead game analyst. Chantel McCabe also contributed as a reporter during the inaugural season, providing interviews and updates from the sidelines.
