Girl Meets Farm

Cookbook author Molly Yeh cooks from her Midwest farmhouse, blending Midwestern comfort food with her Chinese and Jewish heritage.

Girl Meets Farm is an American cooking show that premiered on Food Network in 2018. It grew directly out of Molly Yeh’s food blog, My Name Is Yeh, which she launched in 2009 and which won Saveur’s Food Blog of the Year award in 2015. Her debut cookbook, Molly on the Range, published in 2016, caught the attention of Food Network producers and led to a development deal. The series is filmed on the farm Yeh shares with her husband Nick Hagen, a fifth-generation sugar beet farmer.

Each episode of the show is built around a theme — a family gathering, a seasonal milestone, a personal celebration, or a farm tradition — through which Yeh prepares three to four recipes. Her cooking blends Midwestern staples like hotdish and knoephla soup with dishes rooted in her Chinese and Jewish background, including challah, potstickers, and latkes.

A recurring feature is “Pizza Friday,” a family tradition that appears throughout the series in various creative forms. Besides cooking, the show also offers glimpses of daily farm life, with Yeh’s husband and other family members appearing regularly.

Molly Yeh has served as the show’s host since its debut. The role has earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Culinary Host and a James Beard Award nomination for Outstanding Personality/Host. Beyond the show, Yeh has authored four cookbooks, including Sweet Farm! published in 2025, and opened Bernie’s, a café restaurant in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, in 2022.
