Conan O’Brien Must Go is a comedy travel series that premiered on Max on April 18, 2024. Each season sends O’Brien to meet a fan he’d previously only spoken to over video call, as part of a running bit on his podcast called Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan. It was O’Brien’s first regular television series since his TBS show, Conan, concluded in 2021.
Each episode follows O’Brien into one country, where he meets the fan who inspired the trip. He also tries local food and customs and often endures some form of public embarrassment he’s set himself up for. The format draws on decades of remote-segment comedy O’Brien built on his early late-night shows and later refined on Conan Without Borders.
In season 1, O’Brien visited Norway, Argentina, Thailand, and Ireland over four episodes and drew strong reviews. Variety’s Stephen Rodrick wrote that the show works because O’Brien treats himself, not his hosts, as the fool. Max renewed it for a six-episode second season within a month of the premiere, though what aired on HBO Max in May 2025
The second season ran for three episodes, with O’Brien visiting Spain, New Zealand, and Austria. He also made cameo stops by Javier Bardem and Taika Waititi. A third season followed on HBO in August 2026, taking him to India, the Netherlands, Morocco, and the Philippines.
Conan O’Brien and Jeff Ross serve as executive producers for Conan O’Brien Must Go, with O’Brien’s company, Conaco, producing the show. Every episode is still built around a listener O’Brien first met through Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan. Season 3 wrapped its four-episode run on September 11, 2026, bringing the total number of places visited to 11 countries across three seasons.
