Ted Kravitz was born on 21 March 1974 in Hammersmith, London. His mother is American and is from Union City, New Jersey. His father’s name is Robert Slotover and his mother’s name is Jill Slotover. The surname Kravitz comes from his mother’s maiden name.
During his studies at the University of Exeter, Kravitz presented on University Radio Exeter and later completed a journalism course at CBS News in London. He began his career as a news and sports reporter for regional British radio stations such as 95.8 Capital FM, working on the award-winning programme The Way It Is. He also worked for LBC and London News Direct.
Kravitz joined Chrysalis Television at the end of 1996 to work on their Grand Prix programming. He worked with ITV from the beginning of its F1 coverage in 1997, initially as a producer, and then as a pit-lane reporter from 2002. Kravitz continued his pit-lane role when Formula One coverage moved to the BBC in 2009, and remained in this position until the end of 2011, when he joined Sky Sports F1.
As part of his role at Sky, Kravitz hosts the channel’s weekly show, The F1 Show, and is the presenter and producer of Ted’s Notebook, a short segment where he provides technical information from the paddock.
