Sheinelle Jones is an American broadcast journalist and television host known for her work on NBC News. She attended Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and Spanish. She got an early start in her TV broadcast career by interning at KWCH-TV, a CBS affiliate in Wichita, while still in high school.
After college, Jones started working for WICS in Springfield, Illinois. She later worked at KOKI-TV in Oklahoma and WTXF-TV in Philadelphia before joining NBC News in 2014 as a co-anchor of the Saturday edition of Weekend Today and a midweek correspondent. By 2019, her role had expanded significantly, becoming a core co-host of the Today 3rd Hour alongside Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Dylan Dreyer.
In 2026, Jones left the 3rd Hour segment to become a permanent co-host of the fourth hour, now titled Today with Jenna & Sheinelle. She succeeded Hoda Ktob, who left the fourth-hour segment in 2025. In addition to her anchoring duties on Today, Jones hosts Wild Child as part of NBC’s Saturday-morning educational block.
Jones was married to Uche Ojeh, a hospitality consultant she met while they were students at Northwestern University. The couple had three children – two sons and a daughter. Sadly, Uche Ojeh passed away in 2025 following a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
