Sebastian Salazar was born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland, to an American father and a Mexican mother. He attended Walter Johnson High School before earning his degree from Westminster College in Pennsylvania, where he played collegiate soccer. He launched his broadcasting career at local television stations in Georgia and Virginia before joining Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic in 2009.

Salazar’s role expanded at Comcast SportsNet to include hosting NHL, NBA, MLS, and NFL studio shows, while also hosting NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage. He joined ESPN in late 2016 and later became co-host of the Fútbol Américas show beginning in March 2021. He covered the FIFA World Cup from Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022, broadcasting daily live shows across English and Spanish platforms.

Salazar transitioned from full-time to part-time at ESPN at the end of 2024 and departed entirely at the end of 2025. That same year, he began hosting Saturday Night Soccer on the ION Network. He also founded Defiance FC, a nonprofit semi-professional soccer club in Maryland, providing fully funded pathways for talented players.
