Lance Bass was born James Lance Bass on May 4, 1979, in Laurel, Mississippi. He grew up in Ellisville and later Clinton, Mississippi, singing in his church choir and school show choir. In 1995, during his junior year of high school, he was recruited to join the new boy band *NSYNC. The group went on to sell more than 70 million records worldwide.
After NSYNC went on hiatus in 2002, Bass pursued acting, film production, and even cosmonaut training in Russia. In 2012, he launched the SiriusXM radio show Dirty Pop with Lance Bass, which he hosted through 2016. He also hosted Logo’s Finding Prince Charming, then co-hosted MTV’s 90’s House with Christina Milian in 2017. He later served as a rotating guest host on ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise during its seventh season in 2021.
In 2026, Bass became co-host of E!’s Cocktail Wars alongside his former *NSYNC bandmate Joey Fatone. The competition premiered on August 18 and features mixologists competing for a $10,000 prize, with celebrity guests and expert judge Melissa Brooke joining the judging panel. Bass also maintains a broader media career through podcasting, producing, music, and entertainment appearances.
