Kate Bolduan grew up in Goshen, Indiana, and attended Goshen High School. She went on to attend George Washington University, where she played on the women’s volleyball team and performed in the campus theatre. During college, she studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. After graduating in 2005, she began as a general assignment reporter at WTVD-TV in Durham, North Carolina.

Bolduan joined CNN in 2007 as a national correspondent, initially covering Congress in Washington, D.C. She later co-anchored The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. In 2013, she relocated to New York to help launch New Day, then co-anchored At This Hour with John Berman starting in 2015. She became its sole host in 2017 and also anchored CNN International’s State of America from 2016 to 2019.

Bolduan has co-anchored the morning edition of CNN News Central alongside John Berman and Sara Sidner since April 2023. She also hosts the 5 Things daily news podcast for CNN. Off-air, she remains active with the children’s arts nonprofit Free Arts NYC. Bolduan has anchored the program’s coverage of major recent stories, including the 2024 presidential election.
