Ellen was born and raised in Peterborough, England, and became interested in radio from a young age. At 14, she began volunteering at a local community radio station, later shadowing at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire during her final year of school.

After finishing her education, she went full-time at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, spending three years there as a sports producer, reporter, and presenter.She then joined BBC Radio 5 Live as a production junior, also taking on the role of women’s stadium announcer and presenter for Manchester City.

In 2022, she went fully freelance, landing a major breakthrough hosting the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 final at Wembley (and the tournament’s opening game at Old Trafford). This led to further reporting work for 5 Live, Sky Sports, WSL commentary, and European Athletics coverage.

Ahead of the 2025/26 season, Ellen became Sky Sports’ new lead commentator for the Women’s Super League, joining presenters Caroline Barker and pundits Izzy Christiansen and Rachel Corsie as part of the network’s expanded WSL coverage. She also commentates on biathlon and athletics, and served as an Olympic Broadcasting Service commentator at the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.
