Ed Gamble was born on 10 March 1986 in Hammersmith, London. He grew up in southwest London; his mother worked as a nurse and health visitor for the NHS, and his father was a solicitor. His parents separated when he was four, and he was mainly raised by his mother.

He attended Highfield School and Nursery in Wandsworth, then King’s College School in Wimbledon. He later studied philosophy at Durham University, at Hatfield College, where he began performing comedy with the Durham Revue.

Gamble’s career began in live comedy and radio before moving into television. He became a regular panellist on Mock the Week, won Taskmaster series 9, co-created and co-hosted the hit podcast Off Menu with James Acaster. Ed later became a judge on Great British Menu, alongside Lorna Mckee, and Tom Kerridge.

He also hosts The Traitors: Uncloaked and presents a radio show with Matthew Crosby on Radio X. He lives in London with his wife, Charlie Jamison.
