Derrick Levasseur was born on February 3, 1984, in Providence, Rhode Island. He joined the Central Falls, Rhode Island Police Department as one of its youngest-ever officers and rose through the ranks to become a sergeant assigned to the Special Investigations Unit. There, he took part in undercover operations targeting drug and gun trafficking. He was awarded the Medal of Valor and the American Red Cross Hero Award for his service before retiring from law enforcement in 2017.
In 2014, Levasseur appeared on Big Brother 16, choosing to conceal his identity as a detective. He formed the “Hitmen” alliance with fellow houseguest Cody Calafiore and orchestrated evictions with such precision that he reached the finale without ever being nominated. He won the jury vote 7–2, taking home $500,000 plus Team America bonuses. It remains one of the most dominant performances in Big Brother history.
After Big Brother, Levasseur expanded into media. He hosted Breaking Homicide on Investigation Discovery, where he reinvestigated cold cases. He also appeared as a contestant pn on The Traitors Season 3. In 2025, CBS tapped him to co-host Big Brother: Unlocked, a companion show for Big Brother 27, airing bi-weekly alongside fellow winner Taylor Hale.
